Which airport to use when coming to Turkey?

Turkey has a fairly good Airport infrastructure and depending on the location you want to go in Turkey, the followings are the most commonly used airports:

 Istanbul Region:

 1 – Atatürk International Airport

ATATÜRK International is the largest airport in Turkey, and the 15th largest airport in the world (as of 2015). The airport is located on the European side of Istanbul, and is the hub of Turkish Airlines.

2 – Sabiha Gökçen International Airport

Sabiha Gökçen International is the 3rd busiest airport in Turkey (as of 2015) with many flights from around the world. Sabiha Gökçen is located on the Anatolian side of Istanbul, and is the hub of Pegasus Airline, the largest low cost airline operating in Turkey.

It is worth mentioning that a 3rd international airport is currently under construction on the European side of Istanbul, with plans to open its first phase by the end of 2018.

Aegean Coast Airports:

1 – Adnan Menderes International Airport (Izmir)

Adnan Menderes International is the 5th busiest airport in Turkey (as of 2015) and the hub for Sun Express Airlines, a joint venture between THY and Lufthansa.

Adnan Menderes is a preferred landing destination for destinations such as Çeşme and Kuşadası

2 – Bodrum International Airport

Mediterranean Region

1 - Antalya International Airport

Antalya International is the 2nd busiest airport in Turkey, and the busiest during the summer season. With regular flights from many countries around the world, Antalya International is a convenient airport to use for destinations such as Antalya, Kemer, Kaş&Kalkan, Belek, Side and Alanya.

2 – Alanya – Gazipaşa International Airport

Alanya-Gazipaşa International is the among the newest airports in Turkey. Operational since 2011, the airport is already the 19th largest airport in Turkey. Although still considered as a small regional airport, Alanya-Gazipaşa International is a very convenient airport to use for destinations such as Alanya, Side and Anamur.
