Can I permanently live in Turkey?
Starting a new life in Turkey is actually not as difficult as in other western countries. However this doesn’t mean that you do not have to follow some serious procedures before starting your new life.
To leave permanently in Turkey, first means that you should get a permanent residency in Turkey. There are several ways to get it, and owning a property is one of them. Once you own a property and have it registered to your name, you are good to apply for a residency permit.
While the procedure to get a residency permit is pretty straightforward, it is strongly advised to get the help of professionals.
The first permanent residency is issued for 1 year, which will allow you to stay in the country without any problem for the time authorized. However, should you be willing to stay another year, you will need to start the procedure again.
Following rules and laws in application as of time of writing this article, you will not be eligible for permanent residency permits over 1 year each, for a total of 5 years.
At the end of the 5th year, you will get the right to either obtain the Turkish nationality or ask for a 5 year long residency permit.
Please remember that getting a permanent residency permit does not automatically allow you to start legally working in Turkey. A different type of procedure must be engaged to get a Working Permit.
