Do I need to learn Turkish to communicate with locals?

While learning the local language will certainly not do you any harm, you should also know that as a touristic destination, many locals have some basic knowledge of English, which comes very handy when you need some assistance. In strongly touristic locations such as Alanya, Fethiye and Bodrum, English is widely and frequently spoken, while also many locals have good knowledge of other languages such as Russian, Arabic, Swedish and Norwegian.

All and all, learning Turkish is not mandatory for you to make some friends around or finding your way to the nearest shops, however, will definitely be to your advantage on your day-to-day activities.
